STACEY DOOLEY: FASHION’S DIRTY SECRETS BBC1, 9pm

We’re addicted to fast fashion and anyone can buy into the glamour of the latest trends.

In fact, clothes are cheaper than ever, but we still managed to spend nearly £50billion on them last year.

And the global industry that mass-produces these clothes is trashing our planet.

In another hard-hitting film from Stacey Dooley, currently seen in sparkles on a Saturday night on Strictly, the documentary maker investigates the hidden costs of cheap clothes.

“I love clothes but had no idea about the damage being done to make them,” she says, admitting she indulges in a bit of retail therapy now and again.

Travelling to Asia, she sees how toxic chemicals released by the garment industry are polluting waterways that millions rely on. And she sees how the former Aral Sea has now been reduced almost entirely to dust.

This might make you think twice about what you buy.
