This is a photo of my handsome father, Reginald White, wearing his uniform in the First World War. He joined up when he was 16, having lied about his age, and served in the Middle East. He had some shrapnel embedded in his cheek which was not removed until he was in his 50s. He was a gentle giant and never talked of what he saw or went through during the Great War.
