Spider ‘made massive hole’ in man’s leg
A BUSINESS owner was left with a hole the size of a 50p piece in his leg after a spider bit him as he slept.
Damian Ellis initially noticed just a small painful spot above his ankle.
However, over the next 24 hours, it became painful and inflamed, swelling to the size of a large boil, with an oozing centre.
Dad-of-two Damian, 44, of Droylsden, Greater Manchester, said: “One of my friends said it was a spider bite – I just laughed it off. But it got more and more inflamed and I had a constant burning feeling.
“It looked like the infection was eating my flesh.”
Damian applied antiseptic cream and the wound, which he thinks was caused by a false widow spider, eventually healed, but left a scar.
