Condition is ‘short circuit’
SUPRAVENTRICULAR tachycardia (SVT) is a condition where the heart beats extremely fast but in a regular fashion for a period of minutes to hours.
There are several different types of SVT but commonly an additional electrical pathway causes a “short circuit” of the heart, leading to the condition. Doctors suspect that this additional pathway may develop in babies in the womb.
Children with SVT may report feeling chest flutters or palpitations, a very fast pulse, breathlessness and dizziness, according to the Great Ormond Street
