Kane ode to youth

- IMPRESSED BY DARREN LEWIS

HARRY KANE can’t wait to spearhead Gareth Southgate’s “fresh, hungry” young squad against Croatia and Spain.

The captain has also revealed he has unfinished business with Croatia, who beat England in the World Cup semi-final.

Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Chelsea teenager Mason Mount – on loan at Derby – and Leicester’s James Maddison have been called into the latest squad and Kane said: “I’ve trained with Mason a bit before the World Cup. He came and trained with us.

“That’s what we want in the side. We want fresh, hungry players and competition for places so it will be interesting to see how they get on. They’ve been playing week in, week out, which is what they need. So yes, we have just got to go and enjoy it.”

Leicester City kid Ben Chilwell, 21, joined the party yesterday after Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw pulled out of the squad with an injury.
