Pick pollock to save cash

SHOPPERS can save by buying cheaper and more sustainable fish such as pollock, a study found.

Pollock was an average £1.25 for two fish cakes in stores while cod cost £1.42 and salmon £1.48.

And, on average, two own-label breaded pollock fillets cost £2.73 while breaded cod fillets were £3.02 and haddock £3.13, The Grocer says.

The trade journal added: “Brits could save pennies as well as the planet by opting for pollock. It’s easier on the wallet.”
