Bin single use plastic

-

■ I am amazed that despite all the publicity about single use plastic items, a well known coffee chain continues to give out plastic teaspoons to be discarded in the bin after one use. Other coffee shops supply metal teaspoons and wash them up. And no, I do not want a wooden stick to enjoy the froth on my cappuccinos!

■ Regarding prison officers being given pepper spray, it’s about time something was done.

We have gangs running our streets in certain parts of the UK and the same is happening in prisons. It’s all to do with drugs and money.

prison they often go on to reoffend. Anthony Meres Fleetwood, Lancs

■ So, Elizabeth Owen has a pet fly, Archie, who has been with her since the summer (Your Voice, Oct 8). That’s strange as houseflies only have a life cycle of approximately a month.

My advice is, forget all the nasty chemical fly sprays and let a daddy long legs live happily in the corner of a room as they catch everything quickly. Leave it to nature – or get a dog as they enjoy catching flies. Anna Blackmore Canterbury, Kent
