Kyle fails to hit Shanghai spots
BRITISH No.1 Kyle Edmund will take on old-stager Andreas Seppi in the second round of the Shanghai Masters after struggling to beat world No.35 Filip Krajinovic 7-5 6-3.
Edmund has climbed to a careerhigh No.14 in the world after reaching the semi-final of last week’s China Open but was below-par in disposing of his Serbian opponent.
The 23-year-old Brit beat Seppi in the Australian Open earlier this year.
Novak Djokovic began his bid for a fourth Shanghai crown with a 6-3 7-5 victory over Jeremy Chardy.
