Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho’s old No.2 Rui Faria.

Terry is well liked by the Villa squad after impressing last season as captain. He has just announced his retirement as a player and has been coaching Chelsea’s Under-19s.

Terry, who has a close relationship with ex-Villa chief Steve Bruce, is likely to seek his blessing about replacing him. Henry was offered the job at the weekend, but hesitated as he fancies replacing Leonardo Jardim at his old club Monaco. Ex-Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp (left) said: “I was at a function and Terry was there. I had a feeling he was in the frame for the Villa job.”
