Fasting ‘cure’ for diabetes
TYPE 2 diabetes can be reversed through fasting, researchers have found.
Patients were allowed only water, coffee, tea and a multivitamin on three 24-hour fasting days a week, and a diet low in refined carbohydrates and sugar on the other days.
After several months, participants were able to stop their insulin therapy.
The scientists, from Toronto, Canada, wrote in the BMJ: “Medically supervised, therapeutic fasting regimens can help reverse Type 2 diabetes.”
