Carra: Help all UK needy before world

- BY LIAM THORP

OPENING Jamie Carragher JAMIE Carragher has said we should spend less on foreign aid and look after homeless people here first.

The former Liverpool footballer, 40, was speaking at the launch of a £150,000 shelter in the city.

He said: “We [have] a massive foreign aid budget and I have no problem helping vulnerable people around the world but you start with your own.

“You help the vulnerable people we have first. There are none more vulnerable than the homeless.”

The centre was opened by hotel developer Lawrence Kenwright and his Signature Living group.

It will give mental health support and Mr Kenwright wants it to be the UK’s first with a designated sharps room, where drug needles can be disposed of safely.
