OUR run on warm weather is clearly still going swimmingly as bathers enjoy a dip in an unheated lido.

The site at Hathersage in the Peak District was open in winter for the first time amid temperatures of 21C.

And in the south-east the mercury nudged 24C – the warmest for seven years. We have a plume of hot air from Africa and continental Europe to thank for the hot weather’s last hurrah.

But Storm Callum will now bring gale force winds and heavy rain over the next 48 hours, the Met Office warns.
