The wreck of the Mary Rose, the flagship of Henry VIII’s Navy, is raised from the seabed off the coast of Portsmouth where she had lain since sinking on July 19, 1545 during the Battle of the Solent. Years of meticulous planning by the Mary Rose Trust, led to one of the most complex and expensive projects in the history of maritime archaeology. Over 26,000 artefacts from the ship were also raised after 437 years, including weapons, sailing equipment and a vast array of objects used by the crew.
