Driving each other crazy
KUDOS to whoever thought of putting Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix in a camper van and sending them on a European road trip.
“Three big egos, one small van,” yells the narrator. Yes, it’s asking for trouble really, but that’s the fun of it.
With each celebrity bringing a huge personality and plenty of opinions, they are fighting each other for control at every moment. Nightmare for them, entertainment for us.
There’s a loose reason for their road trip. They are touring each of their homelands to attend a special occasion that is personal to them.
That’s three countries in three weeks, with three events to cater for.
It’s clearly massively staged, but it’s very funny.
“We’re not on holiday,” shouts Gordon, who appears to have only one volume setting. Although we all know this is a holiday.
“Go with the flow,” laughs Gino, while Fred sits in the back of the van rolling his eyes.
Episode one is the Italian Job, with the special occasion being Gino’s best friend’s vow renewal ceremony. Chefs Gordon and Gino will cook the food for a feast on a beach, while First Dates’ Maitre d’ manages the front of house.
There’s chaos of course. Traffic trouble on the streets of Naples, a switch from the camper van to Vespas, a diving incident during the hunt for a lemon farm and a power cut that plunges the kitchen into darkness.
Oh, and beware, it seems Gino takes every opportunity to remove his clothes.
If Gordon thought he was used to kitchen nightmares, he was wrong...
