PM savaged as she won’t say when we quit customs union

THERESA May suffered a Brexit battering from all sides in the Commons yesterday.

MPs rounded on her for failing to break deadlocked EU talks amid fears Britain will stay stuck in the customs union.

The PM repeatedly refused to say when an Irish “backstop” would expire. This supposedly temporary arrangemen­t would keep the UK in the customs union, unable to strike trade deals, while the Irish Border question is sorted out.
