BECKHAMS IN RAID TERROR

Posh distraught after masked gang try to break into stars’ £6m mansion

- BY ASHLEIGH RAINBIRD

DAVID and Victoria Beckham were left “devastated” after masked raiders tried to break into their £6million Cotswold home.

Police were called to the six-bedroom property in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, after the couple’s 24-hour security team raised the alarm.

A distraught-looking Victoria was comforted by son Cruz, 13, as the family arrived yesterday in Australia for the Invictus Games.

THE Beckhams are said to be “absolutely devastated” over the “frightening” attempt by three men to break into their home.

And David is “furious” that his family’s safety could have been put at risk.

The family are understood to have been on their way to Australia when the attempted break in took place. Victoria was pictured looking distressed as the family arrived in Sydney.

The masked trio had used a ladder to peer into the upstairs window of the family’s weekend and holiday home, in Great Tew, Oxfordshire.

One of the attempted burglars wore a balaclava while another wore an all-in-one suit.

Guests dining at a nearby restaurant intervened to chase the burglars away.

A spokesman for the Beckhams declined to comment.

David is understood to be increasing security measures at the couple’s residences in response to the incident.

The family now have guard dogs and motion sensor alarms, and regular patrols of the property are carried out by a team of security guards.

Guests who were dining at the nearby

Soho Farmhouse – which attracts celebrity guests, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – reportedly chased away the raiders.

The Beckhams’ Grade II listed home has undergone extensive refurbishments.

Victoria looked glum as she arrived in Australia with the family for the Invictus Games.

Son Cruz, 13, draped a loving arm over his mum’s shoulder as they went out for a pizza together – just days after David described the couple’s marriage as “hard work”.

After a teaser of the interview was released last week, reports claimed Victoria, 44, spent two days crying.

However, it now seems likely the former Spice Girl was upset by the attempted break-in.

The full interview aired on Australian TV show The Sunday Project yesterday.

David, 43, discussed criticism of their 19-year marriage. He said: “I’ve grown to ignore some of the negative stuff that is said.”

Asked how he sustains his marriage to Victoria, David explained: “I think marriage is always about hard work. To be married for the amount of time we have, it’s always hard work, everybody knows that, but you make it work.”

The Beckhams, including Romeo, 16, and Harper, seven, will join Prince Harry and Meghan at the Games for injured service personnel.
