WE MUST STAY IN THE HUNT
Wolves switch from predators to prey as Coady admits quickfire Hornets double shows Molineux mob are marked men
CONOR COADY says Wolves have become marked men and had better get used to it fast.
The Molineux skipper saw Watford’s bounty hunters breeze into town and execute a nigh-on perfect hit.
Bang! Bang! Wolves were gone in 60 seconds – 58 to be exact – in a double blast from which they never recovered.
You sensed both the crowd and players were stunned as Etienne Capoue and Roberto Pereyra delivered the fatal shots midway through the first half.
It just was not supposed to be that way, after all, Watford arrived with just one point from their past four games and reeling from the 4-0 home thumping by Bournemouth.
But Coady warns Wolves are going to have to learn that teams are preparing to do a job on them.
He said: “Marked men?
Yes, 100 per cent. Every team is very, very good in the Premier League.
“You’re going to get hurt if you’re not at the races. If we play like that we will concede goals.
“It needs a reaction. From our point of view it is very disappointing, we’ve got to learn from it quickly.
“You have to get better. The
Premier League is such a tough division that if you’re off the money even a little bit teams get after you and punish you.” Wolves picked themselves up and desperately tried to get back into the game after the break but the damage had been done. The 21st minute provided the key moment when Capoue chanced his arm from 25 yards and
ended up drilling the ball straight past Rui Patricio.
By the time the big keeper got sight of it, it was too late as it flew through legs and past him.
Wolves kicked off and had just four touches before Joao Moutinho gave the ball away and sent Watford on a rapid counter attack which ended with Pereyra clipping the ball home beautifully with the outside of his left foot.
The home side were all over the place and were slightly fortunate to survive strong penalty claims just a couple of minutes later when Willy Boly sent Isaac Success tumbling right on the edge of the box.
Hornets boss Javi Gracia said: “We knew just how dangerous Wolves have been. But we dominated the game and didn’t let them play the way they usually play.
“Once we were winning 2-0 we managed them. I’ve seen all their games. Not many teams will win here and for that reason I’m very happy.
“We were so frustrated after the Bournemouth result, it was important to do this not just for us but for the supporters as well. They support us, regardless of the result, so they deserved this.”
