In 1992 Yvonne Fitt, 33, a prostitute, was found in a shallow grave just 100 yards where Leanne’s body was dumped.
In 1994, Lindsay Rimer, 13, disappeared after leaving home in Hebden Bridge, less than 20 miles from Taylor’s home in Bramley.
Her body was found in a canal five months later. It is believed she had been smothered or strangled.
In 1995, Deborah Wood, 20, was found on fire at a Leeds railway station. She died from 90% burns.
In 2001, prostitute Rebecca Hall, 19, was found dead in Bradford. Ex-detective Chris Clark is
convinced 20, found dead in Edinburgh 1986 was Taylor’s first victim.
FOUND DEAD Yvonne Fitt Taylor in 2000 at age 45 CHILD killer John Taylor, who is to die in jail for a string of horrific sex attacks, has been linked to a possible five further murders.
He is already serving 30 years for the sadistic killing of 16-year-old Leanne Tiernan in Leeds in 2000.
However detectives believe the exdelivery driver “who exudes evil” could be linked to up to five more deaths.
Imposing a full-life tariff yesterday for the sex attacks, the judge said: “You carried out a 20-year campaign of rape and assaults fuelled by sadistic desire to inflict pain for sexual gratification.”
The 16 offences, three of rape, against five victims between 1977 and 1996 were only pinned on Taylor thanks to advances in DNA testing.
Det Supt Jim Dunkerley of West Yorkshire Police said: “There are other murders he could have been involved with. We have a monster. But the last thing you want is to be fixated on one subject.” Four local murders are “under review” and Taylor has also been named in relation to an unsolved Scottish killing.
Some sex attack victims came forward after seeing Taylor’s face on Crimewatch. One girl aged seven was snatched then abused in a churchyard by Taylor in 1982. He stood by her bedroom window for weeks waving and smiling to frighten her in to staying silent. A barmaid raped just before Christmas in 1977 said: “For 41 years I’ve loathed Christmas. “When evil touches you there is no way back.” Taylor, 62, currently in Wakefield Prison, listened to the Leeds crown court case via video.
