Comic book film fans fall in love
IT was love at first fright when John Ralls met Zoe Kenney at a convention for comic book film fans.
Both were dressed as Batman baddies – he as arch-villain the Joker and she as his accomplice Harley Quinn.
And that’s where it almost went fiendishly wrong. For scores of others were wearing exactly the same gear at the Comic Con event.
Said John, 25: “We just had a little chat but it’s such a massive thing... there were at least 100 Harleys there and probably about 50 Jokers.”
The couple lost each John and Zoe Joker & Harley Quinn other in the confusion but, luckily, John later tracked down Zoe on Instagram.
They met again, began dating, and now share their love of Cosplay – dressing as US action comic characters.
Going topless as the Joker even inspired NHS manager John to hit the gym and lose four stone.
Now the couple plan to move in together – keeping a spare room for their growing £3,000 collection of 17 costumes, of course.
This weekend, exactly a year since they met, around 100,000 fellow fans are expected to descend on MCM Comic Con in London.
Zoe, 26, said: “We also do Captain America and Black Widow, Spiderman and Spiderwoman, Poison Ivy and Genderbend Poison Ivy...and we’re planning a young Albus Dumbledore and Luna Lovegood.”
She added: “It may seem a bit unusual but it’s a really good creative outlet.”
