Risky bid for killer selfie with orca

AN elephant is forced underwater to perform tricks for tourists in a demeaning spectacle that animal rights campaigner­s want banned.

Tourists from Britain and elsewhere are being urged to stay away from Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Thailand, in a bid to stop the animals suffering.

Elephants swim in the wild and use water to cool off, wash and play around.

But in this performanc­e at the zoo, the elephant is made to dance around the tank, bobbing her head above and below the surface. With a trainer on her back, tugging violently on her ears, she plunges to the bottom and does a few tricks before going back up for air.

Balazs Onhausz with whale in Shetland A MAN got a selfie with a killer whale while standing inches from the edge of a 15ft harbour wall.

Balazs Onhausz took the risk to snap the 12ft orca as it swam close to the shores of Shetland.

He had been following a pod around the islands with his girlfriend on Saturday when they had the encounter in Sandwick.

Balazs said: “They rolled in right close up on the pier and were swimming along it. One of them was floating up to me slowly on its side and looked at me for long seconds. I turned my camera around and took that selfie. It was amazing.”
