Afterwards, there was just one special card left for David to deliver.
Kneeling down to Ella, he handed her a gold envelope, saying: “There is a card here with your name on it, and the reason it’s gold is because you have won a Pride of Britain Award and the award is Child of Courage.”
Ella could barely hide her excitement and flung her arms around the dad-offour for a big hug. And on Monday night she joined more than 100 of Britain’s biggest stars to collect her award from the X Factor’s Dermot O’Leary, Simon Cowell, Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field.
She also met the likes of Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding, Amanda Holden and Peter Andre and was the star of the Daily Mirror’s front page on Tuesday.
Afterwards Ella, of Whitworth, Rochdale, said: “I feel amazing. I wasn’t even nervous. It takes me a very, very long time to make these cards.
