Danny family fury as glitch makes him sound like Dalek

THE family of X Factor contestant Danny Tetley are outraged that sound problems on the ITV show left him sounding like a Dalek.

His song in memory of his dead aunt was always likely to make his mum tearful, but it was so badly hit by technical issues it made her cry for the wrong reasons. Danny’s shocked sister Leanne said: “I’m raging, livid... I’ve witnessed my mum sob uncontrollably tonight as a tribute to her late and only sister was trashed. “I’ve taken her home in a state I’ll never forget. Shame on you ITV.” Danny, 38, was visibly emotional after singing Queen track Who Wants to Live Forever – a song loved by his aunt Denise, who died last year.

But the performance and the one by fellow contestant Anthony Russell, 28, sounded robotic when aired on Saturday. Producers were forced to cancel Saturday’s public vote for the first time in the ITV show’s 14-year history.

DISGUSTED

Bosses extended last night’s edition so they could feature all of the songs in full again – minus the sound glitch – before opening the phone lines, leaving viewers a short amount of time to cast their votes. Previously this series, another contestant’s name was given when Danny was introduced to the stage. Leanne, 42, of Bradford, West Yorks, said she was “disgusted” that for the second time a technical hitch “has ruined our Dan’s time on the show”. Last night she said: ““We were upset not to hear the tribute but… we know the issue was beyond The X Factor’s control. We are grateful to The X Factor for halting the voting.” Danny and Anthony both got through last night. United Vibe and Molly Scott were eliminated. Saturday’s “live” show, which had a Halloween theme, was recorded hours earlier so Robbie Williams – a judge alongside wife Ayda Field, Simon Cowell and Louis Tomlinson – could fly off to perform a concert in Chile.
