PABLO HERNANDEZ (LEEDS) ROTHERHAM SWANSEA CITY TWO-GOAL Ryan Manning grabbed the glory but it was Swansea’s promising youngster Daniel James who caught the eye.
The 20-year-old – who is knocking on the Wales door – was a revelation, bamboozling Rotherham with his runs, energy and quick thinking.
He masterminded the move that set up Oli McBurnie to put the Swans ahead, but ended up a loser, even though his side had 72 per cent of the play.
Boss Graham Potter hailed his performance, saying: “Dan was superb but we didn’t use him enough in the second half.
“We needed that second goal to kill off the game, but didn’t do it and paid the price.”
The winger – who has played at every junior level for Wales – hopes the display improved his chance of a first senior cap under Ryan Giggs.
He said: “If I keep playing well, who knows, a call-up is possible. Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts have made it and the Wales manager is obviously giving a lot of people chances, so you have to keep at a top level and hope he spots you.”
“I’ve had three games in a row now and I’m enjoying my football, but all I’m thinking of is the Bolton game next week.”
Both Rotherham goals were penalties put away in style by Manning (above), on loan from QPR. But the 22-year-old Irishman admitted: “We were lucky to get the chance – not just once, but twice.
“Technically, they were both penalties, but it could have gone either way.”
