Wilder ice cold over Luh’s job

Sheffield Utd v Sheffield Wednesday 7.45pm

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

CHRIS WILDER claims he will have no sympathy for Sheffield Wednesday boss Jos Luhukay if he pushes him closer to the sack in the 130th Steel City derby.

Luhukay is facing calls from some Wednesday fans for his head because of their run of four straight losses going into tonight’s Bramall Lane clash.

But Sheffield United boss Wilder said: “People in the game recognise it’s a tough job and it’s difficult when you lose games.

“But I don’t think there can be any sentiment at all and there certainly isn’t going to be any sentiment between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.”

Luhukay is ignoring the growing pressure on him and insists he is still the right man for the job. The Dutchman, whose first game in charge was a goalless draw at United in January, says critics have forgotten Wednesday were sixth just a month ago.

He said: “When I have the feeling my work is not accepted or not respected, when the players give me the feeling that I’m not the right person, then we must make a decision. But I do not have that feeling.”

Wilder, who has already told his players the team, savoured one of his best moments when the Blades won 4-2 at Hillsborough last season and has told his players to approach this game with fire and ice.

“We need to be like fire to get the ball back and then like ice when we have it, being cool and calm,” said the boyhood Blade.

“The rewards if you win are fantastic and defeat is something you don’t want to think about, and we’re not.”
