FOOTBALL: FA Cup first round, Hampton & Richmond v Oldham Athletic – BT Sport 1, 7.15pm.

TENNIS: ATP World Tour Finals – Sky Sports Main Event, noon, 1.45pm & 6pm, BBC2, 2pm.

CRICKET: Women’s ICC World T20, England v Bangladesh – Sky Sports Main Event, 7.30am; Sri Lanka v South Africa – Sky Main Event, 11.30pm. THIS was a game that was decided in 14 seconds.

That is how long it took between Aleksandar Mitrovic’s disallowed goal and Mohamed Salah finding the net at the other end.

Fulham went from ecstasy to agony in seconds and Liverpool never looked back.

Any chance of the Premier League strugglers pulling off an upset vanished in barely the time it took for an assistant referee to raise his flag.

The debate will rage about whether or not Serbia international striker Mitrovic was onside.

The Fulham fans trooping down the M6 yesterday afternoon will no doubt believe their man was level with Andy Robertson.

But the Reds fans rejoicing in their ninth win of the season will dismiss that argument and say Mitrovic was just ahead of Liverpool’s last defender.

TV replays didn’t make it clearcut either, which could have led to a lengthy delay had VAR been in operation.

Liverpool have now picked up 30 points out of a possible 36, their best start to a Premier League campaign even though they haven’t exactly been flying.

They were certainly much improved from Tuesday night’s surprise Champions League defeat by Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

But manager Jurgen Klopp (above) knows they are still way below the form of last season when rivals couldn’t handle their dynamic front three.

If Mitrovic’s goal had stood, the Cottagers may have taken something home from Merseyside to reduce the pressure on under-fire manager Slavisa Jokanovic. Instead, they remain rock bottom of the table with just one win from 12 – 4-2 at home to Burnley way back in August. Fulham have won just once on Merseyside in 55 attempts now.

Their travelling fans thought that was going to change when highlyrated Ryan Sessegnon raced through early on but the teenage star fired wide after a great touch took him past Joe Gomez.

Fulham keeper Sergio Rico had earlier kept his side in it with a good save to deny Salah while Xherdan Shaqiri (below) blasted over. But at the other end Alisson spilled an Andre Schurrle effort as some nerves crept in around Anfield despite Liverpool’s clear dominance.

Then came the 14 seconds that turned it all as Mitrovic powered in Tom Cairney’s cross shortly before the break. When the celebrations were cut short by a raised flag, Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk instructed Alisson to take the freekick quickly. The Brazilian – with the ball still in motion – played out to Trent AlexanderArnold and his pass put Salah through to finish off for his sixth Premier League goal of the season.

Sadio Mane forced the impressive Rico into another good save after the break but the second came in style for the Reds.

The impressive Robertson swung in a deep cross and Shaqiri, unmarked at the far post, steered home the cutest of volleys with the inside of his left foot.

Liverpool continued to push for more goals as Fulham wilted, Mitrovic becoming an isolated figure at the other end.

Jokanovic turned to his bench in a bid to try to get something out of the game but there would be no way back.

Now the Fulham boss will hope to hang on to his job and show there is a way back for them this

season.
