WAY BLASTS HIS STYLE SETTERS
YEOVIL boss Darren Way hit out at his players’ “lifestyles” after they were humbled against Stockport.
The Glovers lost 3-1 to a side 43 places below them in the pyramid as goals from Matty Warburton, Nyal Bell and Frank Mulhern helped the ex-Football League side come from behind after Alex Fisher’s opener.
Way (below) said: “Whether it be their lifestyle, I just felt that one or two individuals make mistakes, and they just didn’t really look fit or stronger, or more confident at times.”
Maidstone boss Harry Wheeler masterminded his side’s 2-1 upset of Macclesfield thanks to a half-time rollocking.
Ben Stephens had put the Silkmen ahead before Jack Powell’s free-kick and Blair Turgott’s penalty turned it around.
Wheeler said: “Sometimes it needs more of an aggressive environment at half-time to get a different reaction, and we managed to do that.”
League Two Tranmere survived an upset at the hands Oxford City and midfielder Ollie Banks reckons some players disrespected the competition.
Rovers needed a late equaliser from James Norwood to salvage a 3-3 draw with Kabongo Tshimanga scoring a hat-trick for the minnows and Connor Jennings netting an earlier brace.
Banks said: “It’s every lad’s dream to play in the Cup, but it didn’t look like it.”
