Missing mum’s son: Our never-ending nightmare
Heartbreak as hunt for Sarah goes on
THE distraught son of a woman who has been missing for over a month has told how he and his family are living a “never-ending nightmare”.
Mum-of-five Sarah Wellgreen, 46, was last seen alive on October 9 and was reported missing two days later.
Son Lewis Burdett, 22, said: “The past month has been a never-ending nightmare and so distressing for our family.”
Around 1,300 people have helped police search woodland near Sarah’s home in New Ash Green, Kent.
Lewis said: “If there is any comfort to be found during this time, it has been through seeing the support the community has given in the search to find our mum. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped.”
Detectives say they are treating the beautician’s disappearance as suspicious and a potential murder inquiry.
Sarah left her car, bank cards and other belongings at home but her black iPhone 4 has not been found.
She lived with her ex Ben Lacomba, 38, the father of three of her children, but was making plans to marry Neil
James, 45. A man was arrested on October 16 and questioned for three days before being freed on bail, which was extended yesterday. Police have not confirmed his identity or revealed which offence he was held on suspicion of.
Detectives have received more than 2,000 hours of CCTV and dashcam footage but are still urging the public to send in more video.
DCI Ivan Beasley said: “I would urge anyone with cameras within a five-mile radius of New Ash Green who has not yet contacted us to get in touch.
“Similarly, it is possible there are some motorists who were in the area at the relevant time who have not realised their dashcam may contain material that could assist.”
Lewis also appealed for people to keep up the effort to find his mother.
Writing on Facebook, Lewis, of Portsmouth, Hants, said: “Please, please keep looking and re-posting the social media appeals.
“Myself, and my family, really do appreciate everything you are doing.”
