JUSTIN: I’M NOT EDIN OUT OF O’S

- BY IAN BAKER

JUSTIN EDINBURGH has turned down the manager’s job at AFC Wimbledon so that he can lead Leyton Orient back into the Football League.

The former Tottenham defender was linked with the vacant position at the League One club following the sacking of Neal Ardley.

But he was adamant that he does not want to quit the National League leaders after the 3-1 win over Bromley.

Edinburgh (above) said: “The speculation only comes from your team, the players and the football club doing well. I think it showed in this game that the speculation hasn’t affected me.

“I’m more than happy with what I’m doing here. For me, there’s no reason to leave this football club.”

Over 6,000 turned up at Brisbane Road to watch Orient overturn a first-half John Goddard goal.

Jobi McAnuff, Josh Koroma and Macauley Bonne all replied as the O’s ran riot after the break.

Salford and Wrexham are just one point behind Orient. And Edinburgh is not the only manager to distance himself from another vacancy after Wrexham’s Sam Ricketts revealed there had been no contact with League One Shrewsbury.

Following a 1-1 draw at Maidstone, he said: “No one’s phoned me. I’ll say it again, it’s me doing my job. If I’m not doing my job no one rings me. I’m very happy here.”

Salford warmed up for Wednesday’s FA Cup first-round replay at home to the Shrews by thumping Aldershot 4-0.

Adam Rooney scored in the second minute on his way to a hat-trick, while Rory Gaffney also netted for the Ammies who are now unbeaten in 17 league games.

Former Aberdeen striker Rooney said: “It’s always great to get off to a good start. We’ve been starting games well and that always helps you.”
