Did Elton diss the bus?

Ever wondered what would happen if Corrie’s Steve McDonald’s ex-wives crossed paths? Wonder no more. Two of his five wives, Suranne Jones (who played Karen) and Katherine Kelly (who played Becky) are to be reunited on the BBC.

Sadly, Corrie fans, it is not a Steve McDonald’s ex-wives club drama – or his current wife Tracy might get mauled. Suranne and Katherine will star in Gentleman Jack, a drama based on the life of 19th Century diarist Anne Lister, to be broadcast next year.

It’s hard for Belfast boy

Jamie Dornan to return to his home town, but, despite his sexy scenes in Fifty Shades of Grey, it’s not for fear of crowds of screaming girls.

“People with a few drinks in them can be… well, they’re a bit ‘hands on’,” he explains, diplomatically, to Radio Times. “You’re in a headlock before you know it.

“I mean, it’s the most loving headlock you can imagine, but sometimes you’re not up for that when all you want is a quiet drink with your mates.” Did Sir Elton John snub the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony because he’d have had to get a bus home?

Eric Idle

Monty Python star claims the bus ride was the “clincher”, despite One Direction stars including and Elbow

piling on to the “rowdy” coach. Eric, who performed Always look On The Bright Side Of Life at the event, says: “There were no cars after the show.

“For all those glamorous performers, they had arranged a bus! I think that was the clincher for Elton. A bus ride home. For Elton? He dropped out.” A source close to Elton said: “It’s unlikely Elton would have been aware of the bus.”

But Eric says the singer, 71, missed quite a party on the bus.

“The bus turned out to be surprisingly good fun because

[my wife] Tania brilliantly arranged with the caterers to stuff it with champagne and it became quite a party and we did get very rowdy.”

In his book Always Look on the Bright Side of Life: A Sortabiography he also says the stars were paid just £1 to appear, after signing a 300-page contract. “Even that quid wasn’t easy to come by,” he says, claiming the Olympic Committee initially failed to cough up.

“Some months later, I decided to call them on this and got my California lawyer to send them a letter demanding immediate payment of one pound.

“They did see the humour of this and sent a letter of apology with a pound coin taped to it. I told my lawyer that, instead of his usual percentage, he could keep the entire fee. I’m generous like that.”

I don’t think she’s going to find love in the jungle. Foul breath, horrible armpits... oh gosh. Kind words of encouragement from I’m A Celeb campmate Emily Atack’s mum, Kate
