Ripping open Xmas prezzie Sniffing gift GRIM Mirror exposed how tigers were kept SANTA must have feared getting sleighed... as he dropped off this prezzie for Mondo the tiger.

He need not have worried. The treat of straw scented with perfume, which tigers love, was just another reason why this was Mondo’s best Christmas. A year ago, Mondo along with pals Natasha, Antonella, Zoppa and Girona, who also got gifts from Santa, were in a squalid cage, performing in circuses.

They were saved from Spain by Charlotte Corney, founder of the Isle of Wight Zoo’s Wildheart Trust, and her partner, TV’s Chris Packham. Mirror readers raised £20,000 to bring the tigers to the UK. Charlotte said: “Thanks to the readers, our tigers enjoy a loving and comfortable home.”
