FULHAM FURY AT FANS’ RACIST ABUSE OF KAMARA
FULHAM say they will track down and punish those responsible for the “repulsive” and racist abuse directed at controversial striker Aboubakar Kamara on social media over the weekend.
Kamara was involved in a row with fellow striker Aleksandar Mitrovic at the end of the Cottagers’ 1-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday, when he won a late penalty and insisted on taking it – even though his partner is the regular taker.
Kamara’s penalty was saved and the Frenchman was booed by Fulham fans, before Mitrovic netted an injury-time winner.
But Kamara, 23, was later the subject of a torrent of abuse on social media, some of it racist. The abuse has come with police and Chelsea investigating racist behaviour by fans at the match against Manchester City.
A Fulham spokesman said last night: “We are aware that damaging and hurtful comments have been posted on Aboubakar Kamara’s social media account, and as a club that prides itself on respect and civility, we condemn anyone who may be associated with this repulsive activity.
“This is not representative of genuine Fulham supporters, many of whom have posted messages of support to the player. The club will provide all necessary support to Aboubakar and will take the strongest action against those identified and responsible for these posts.”
