Can’t handle the Luther?

-

WE always complain that public transport is a nightmare.

But for Luther actress Katharine Orchard now it really will be. Idris Elba’s BBC One show was back with a bang on Tuesday night, pulling in 5.9 million viewers.

But we can expect exactly as many people to never get on a bus again – after what has been dubbed “one of the most horrifying” scenes on television.

The episode showed the character Clare Evans suddenly finding herself alone on the top deck of London’s No 15 bus – only for a masked killer to pop up on the back seat, slowly crawl snake-like along the floor and then jump up and stab her to death before her stop. Viewers immediately rushed online to express their sheer terror, with hundreds of memes popping up quicker than the killer himself. Many claimed they had nightmares after the scenes, while others tweeted pictures of empty top decks on their own buses the next morning.

But it’s Katharine, who played Clare, you have to feel for most.

The newbie actress, who graduated from LAMDA in 2017, posted a still of herself sitting on the bus, with the caption: “When you have to start work at 5.30am and you try to explain why it’s not gonna work any more.”

The BBC has had no official complaints as yet but it was Corrie’s Brooke Vincent who spoke for many when she declared: “Right, that’s me. Never, ever getting on a bus again.”
