Future goes on display at Vegas show

Venue is the Las Vegas Convention Center TODAY geeks get a first peek at tomorrow’s must-have gadgets.

The Consumer Electronic­s Show is the grandest tech event on the planet with offerings that could be the best thing since sliced bread, such as a machine that bakes and vends loaves.

Other predicted hits include the Ovis hands-free suitcase, which follows its owner, using in-built sensors to avoid passers-by. But buyers will have to be pretty loaded as it costs £626.

LG has a whole new angle on TV sets with its LG Signature OLED R. A flexible, rollable screen, it curls into a base when not in use. While Samsung has a telly that can be customised to fit any wall with panels placed together to create a potentiall­y huge screen.

There is even a cat bowl that uses face recognitio­n to lift its lid so only the family moggy can feast.

And for lonely people without even a pet for company, cute robot Lovot, who adores being cuddled, could be just the ticket. Japanese start-up Groove X, say its aim is “to make you smile”, though the hefty £4,000 is not amusing.

But gadget fans will not lose sleep over buying huggable pillow robot Somnox that helps regulate breathing for a good night’s sleep. It is set to retail at a more modest £500.
