It’s Jack the gripper

MORE baffling murder mysteries from the idyllic Caribbean isle of Saint Marie.

Honestly, anyone would think it was supposed to be a luxury holiday destination, not a crimeridden hotbed of bloodthirsty deaths.

Fortunately DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) and his team are on hand to deal with the never-ending homicide cases that land on their desks.

In this series eight opener, everyone is confused when passenger Paul (Andrew Tiernan) is stabbed to death on the express bus to Honore.

We see him sit right at the back with no one seeming to go near him for the duration of the journey, so how did this happen? Suspicion, of course, falls upon the other passengers. Watch out for Rebecca Front and Rob JamesCollier as two equally shifty looking bus passengers, both of whom claim they didn’t see a thing.

Puzzled by a single piece of loose masking tape, Jack is determined to prove foul play. However, with each of the passengers providing an alibi for another, and a lack of evidence, the team have a tough task on their hands. Meanwhile, Jack is on the lookout for a new recruit to join the police team, and romance is on the cards for Florence ( Josephine Jobert) with new beau, Patrice (Leemore Marrett Jr).

As always, this show brings drama and comedy, with it all building to the usual reveal at the end as the murder is explained to us step by step.

It’s a well-trodden format, but it works just the same.
