‘Our Jayden had no links with gangs’

-

JAYDEN Moodie’s family insisted the teen had “no affiliation with gangs” as they made a plea to catch his murderers.

A car rammed the 14-year-old off a moped on Tuesday and three men stabbed him as he lay unconscious.

Mother Jada Bailey was comforted as Jayden’s cousin, Leon Green, read a family statement at the scene in Leyton, East London, yesterday.

He said: “Jayden had recently moved from Nottingham to London and had absolutely no affiliation with gangs. The focus needs to be on the fact he has been brutally murdered in cold blood.”

And family friend Josh Grant told the Mirror: “He’s wasn’t in a gang, he was a Teen’s mum and sister at the scene yesterday Jayden, 14, was stabbed good kid.”

The area where Jayden died has been blighted by gang violence and police believe the attack was “targeted”. A resident said on Wednesday he feared the murder was part of a turf war between the area’s Beaumont and Oliver Close gangs.

Photos on social media show Jayden posing with wads of £50 notes and making a gun gesture on a motorbike.

But his family said he was fascinated by motorbikes and loved fixing them.

The car used in the attack was found streets away the same night. It is still unclear why Jayden was riding the moped, as it is only legal from 16.
