Kingsley: Teams afraid of us now

STEPHEN KINGSLEY reckons Championship opponents have become scared of facing in-form Hull.

For the first time in 109 years, the Tigers have won six league games in a row in one of the top two divisions.

Eyebrows have been raised as

City have roared out of the relegation zone

– on the morning of December 1 – to within only four points of the play-offs.

Left-back Kingsley (being held off by Steven Fletcher, right) has helped a previously leaky, young defence claim three successive clean sheets. This shut-out followed the 6-0 victory over Bolton and 2-0 win against leaders Leeds.

And experienced Cardiff defender Matthew Connolly is set to have a medical at Hull today. Asked if rival teams are becoming fearful of them, Kingsley said: “I think you have seen that here.”

The Scot explained: “Sheffield Wednesday sat off. We scored, so they had to come out, and it suited us down to the bone.

“We have put ourselves in a great position now – that’s all I’m going to say.”

Tigers boss Nigel Adkins met with the club’s owner Assem Allam before this match to discuss the transfer window – and other recruits are being eyed.

The big question is whether Hull can keep this stunning run of form going or whether their bubble will burst.

Jarrod Bowen struck the opening two goals here, then Fraizer Campbell rifled in another, to leave Wednesday down in 16th.

The Owls’ caretaker boss Steve

Agnew had a miserable return to Hull, where he was once Steve Bruce’s assistant.

He was surprised by what he saw from Wednesday, who Bruce takes charge of next month.

Agnew had the players in yesterday morning and spoke some home truths. He said: “OK, we’re new to the players, and we’ve got to find out about each other.

“But the players have to understand what’s required to win matches and move up the league – and that was way below anything we would ask for.”

Struggling Wednesday hope forward Fernando Forestieri will be back in full training by the middle of this week, having not played since recently attracting police attention.
