STOKE ARE HUMBLED BY SHREWS

- SHREW BEAUTY BY DAVID ANDERSON

SHREWSBURY completed a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down to dump Stoke out of the FA Cup in Nathan Jones’ first home match.

Stoke were on course to record a comfortable first win for Jones and book a place in the fourth round at home to Wolves when Tyrese Campbell scored his first two goals for the Potters on his full debut.

But Sam Ricketts’ League One strugglers achieved a memorable giantkilling by scoring three times in the last 19 minutes with Josh Laurent grabbing the winner.

The defeat was agonising for Jones after the new Potters boss lost his first match in charge at Brentford on Saturday.

He made eight changes and was initially pleased as his Championship outfit took control.

Kevin Campbell’s son Tyrese opened the scoring on 20 minutes when he touched Tom

Ince’s pass past Shrewsbury captain Mat Sadler before firing home with his right foot.

His second on 36 minuteswas a real gem as he volleyed home from near the penalty spot from Luke Waterfall’s poor headed clearance.

Stoke should have had more and Ince missed a gilt-edged chance before Shrewsbury, who had not had a kick, suddenly came to life.

James Bolton thumped a screamer in off the far post on 71 minutes before Sam Clucas felled Fejiri Okenabirhie (above) for a penalty six minutes later, which the Shrewsbury midfielder converted.

Stoke were shellshocked and their misery was complete when the impressive Greg Docherty crossed for Laurent to slot home a famous winner for the Shrews nine minutes from time.
