Upping the stakes

- TRAUMA with her Auntie Jo

CLEANING UP ITV, 9pm

WITH her posh coat and posh accent, Sam is really revelling in her double life these days.

The gambling addict, played by Sheridan Smith, has got caught up with the insider trading big boys and is desperately trying to stay afloat.

The stakes get even higher when Swanny (Lloyd Owen) meets Sam for dinner and rocks up with £50,000 cash for her.

She just needs to use it to make some investments for him and she can make a £10,000 profit. “Can you handle it?” he asks. Of course she can’t, but she ploughs on anyway, using her daughter’s bank accounts for extra bad mum points.

Meanwhile, Blake – remember him – turns up outside the London offices demanding his burner phone back from Frances (Rosie Cavaliero). Shame that sticky tape wasn’t strong enough to keep it stuck to the bottom of his desk.

Frances knows Sam has it, but uses Jess, who is still banging on about her coffee in a van business, to get to the phone.

Later, Swanny invites Sam over to his place for dinner, meaning she really could do with a new dress. Watch out for the Pretty Woman moment in an exclusive store.

And Dave (Matthew McNulty) notices a change in the newly confident Sam and wonders how on earth she thinks she’s going to afford to keep the house. “You just wait and see,” she smirks.

This is the big job now and the tension is building to either a massive win or Sam’s downfall.

Either way, we’re fully invested.
