Local tells of cries in park after Libby vanished
A MAN of 24 was being quizzed last night on suspicion of abducting missing Libby Squire.
Police in Hull said it was still a missing person inquiry rather than a murder probe.
But a local told of 15 minutes of “dark and eerie” cries from a park after the student, 21, was last seen.

A local, who wanted to stay anonymous, said the cries rang out “seven or eight” times and went on for about 15 minutes.
They said they then spotted a man running out of Oak Road Playing Fields –-minutes away from Libby’s home in Hull.
Last night a man of 24 was quizzed on suspicion of abducting philosophy student Libby, 21. She vanished after a club turned her away last Thursday for being too drunk. Her pals put her in a taxi at 11.30pm but after arriving at their home, she wandered off.
Libby was seen on a bench on Beverley Road at 11.45pm. Then at 12.09am police think she was on Beresford Avenue, leading to the park.
It is believed police fear she was taken and dumped in the River Hull. One resident said: “I woke at about quarter past 12 and there was a scream. It sounded like a woman’s scream towards the back of the park, where the river bank and pond is.
“Then 30 seconds later there was another scream. She must have screamed seven or eight times. All of the screams had gaps between them. The screams must have gone on for about 15 minutes.
“They sounded eerie, they sounded dark. Then I saw a male running.”
Locals say the park is always full of youngsters drinking and taking drugs, so unusual sounds tend to be ignored.
Police have been searching the park since Friday. A forensics officer was yesterday seen taking samples by the river.
Red flags were put at the top of neglected stone steps to the river. It is believed the uni’s boating club used them and there is a derelict boathouse nearby.
Officers raided the home of Polish bacon factory worker Pawel Relowicz, 24, on Wednesday. He lives with wife Jagoda, 24, and their two children less than a mile from where Libby was last seen. A silver Vauxhall Astra was towed after the police raid.
Libby’s parents Lisa, 48, and Russell, 53, have travelled from High Wycombe, Bucks, and are being cared for by specialist officers.
Det Supt Matt Hutchinson said police are keeping an open mind, adding: “We are still treating Libby’s disappearance as a missing person’s
inquiry.”
