NEARLY a million more young adults still live with parents than two decades ago, a report reveals.

The proportion of 20 to 34-year-olds yet to leave home grew from around 2.4 million in 1998 to about 3.4 million in 2018, thinktank Civitas found.

It said the “dramatic increase” points to housing affordability issues.

Civitas director Daniel Bentley said: “Young adults have taken one look at the high rents in the private sector and decided to stay with their parents longer.”

A previous report found the average house cost 7.2 times average annual earnings, making the cost of buying a home the least affordable since 2007. Theresa May leaves bash AND THEY COULD HAVE BOUGHT... a Porsche 911 GT3 AN unnamed Tory donor splashed more than £70,000 for a night at the Proms with Theresa May at the party’s Black and White Ball.

Guests at the fundraiser paid up to £15,000 a table to rub shoulders with Cabinet ministers and bid for auction lots from the lavish to the bizarre.

Tory chairman Brandon Lewis told them: “Whatever you bid, it is less than you’ll pay in tax under Corbyn.”

Lunch with austerity architect George Osborne at The Ivy in London was going for at least £6,000 and a trip to the cinema with Work and Pensions Secretary Amber

Rudd £2,000.

Minister Penny Mordaunt, previously a magician’s assistant, offered a magic lesson.

And events with Jeremy Hunt and Matthew Hancock and a portrait by artist Peregrine Heathcote were also up for grabs at the auction in London, hosted by Go Compare adverts star Wynne Evans.

Bloodsports were on offer, with a 350-bird shoot topping £10,000. The League Against Cruel Sports said: “This doesn’t reflect the values of a modern and compassionate society.”

In a begging message to donors, Mrs May branded Labour “unfit to govern” for rejecting political “common values” on “everything from our security to the need to stamp out racism”. Wynne Evans
