MILO MACKIN FINALIST ON SAS: WHO DARES WINS

closer to Travis.

He says: “Even wearing the same uniform as him, the kit, it was quite personal.

“And if anything, I think losing my brother made me a better recruit, because it gave me a reason to be there.” Joining the army was Milo’s childhood dream and he felt immense guilt about not signing up after Travis died. He says: “Seeing the impact Travis’s death had on my family, the feelings were so raw, I couldn’t do it. I didn’t need celebrity idols when I was growing up, because with Corbin and Travis I had these two idols in front of me. “When you lose one of them, it’s impossible to describe. It’s like a heartache, it’s unbearable. And it never gets easier.” Milo is about to buy a house in Plymouth with his girlfriend Maddison Nixon, 27. He revealed the first Ant Middleton

time he’d opened up about Travis’s death to strangers was on the show.

SAS veteran Matthew “Ollie” Ollerton was so moved he has agreed to join Milo and fellow recruit Mark Peart to climb Mont Blanc in the Alps in July.

Milo and Mark, 32, became close on the show because both had experienced tragedy. Mark’s wife tragically killed herself six months before filming began.

The expedition will raise money for Strongmen, a charity which Ollie co-founded that aims to tackle male mental health issues.

Milo hopes his story can help others to talk when the going gets tough.

“When I told them about Travis, I felt like a massive weight was lifted off my shoulders,” he says. “It has definitely been a journey of self-discovery.”

■ The SAS: Who Dares Wins final is on Channel 4 at 9pm tomorrow. JUMPING for two minutes, three times a week, could cut women’s osteoporosis risk, a study by Manchester Metropolitan Uni found.

His death had a huge impact on me, I want to make him proud
