Costly HS2 is ‘facing chop’
MINISTERS are “considering” scrapping HS2 as costs spiral out of control, it will be claimed tonight.
Sources fear the bill for the rail project may cost £6billion a year – equal to the rest of the network.
A Government source tells C4’s Dispatches: “The costs are spiralling so much we’ve been actively considering other scenarios, including scrapping the entire project.”
The Government wants HS2 to be “the backbone of Britain’s rail system”.
