Dialling back on cop’s line

AT RISK Police call operator THE 101 phone line may no longer run through the night, says the National Police Chiefs’ Council.

Chief Constables have sent Policing Minister Nick Hurd a letter telling him they are reviewing the non-emergency line.

A NPCC spokesman said: “There are 44,000 fewer officers and staff involved in policing than there were in 2010.”

He said chief constables prioritise resources against the greatest harm.
