Whelk-come aphrodisiac

-

KOREANS are keeping British fishermen in business – by buying 10,000 tons of whelks a year to use as an aphrodisiac.

The sea snails are often snubbed by Brits who find them too chewy.

Gavin Davies has spent 20 years sending the shellfish to Seoul, South Korea.

The fisherman from Saundersfoot, South West Wales, said: “There’s an abundant stock of them in the Bristol Channel and the pots do virtually no damage to the sea bed.”
