Film’s stars Under Pressure for a win

-

BOHEMIAN Rhapsody’s Rami Malek is on course to be crowned king of the Oscars at tomorrow’s swanky bash. And his co-star Allen Leech is planning a week-long bender if Rami nabs the coveted Best Actor gong. When asked if he will be having rock ’n’ roll celebrations, Allen said: “Please God. If Bohemian Rhapsody wins or if Rami wins we will party for the next week.”

Speaking at the Oscar Wilde Awards on Thursday night, he adds: “Rami is along for the ride like we all are. It’s a great celebration of the movie and a great celebration of Rami.

“It’s amazing to have this opportunity and see the love people have for it.”

Rami, 37, has already won a BAFTA for his portrayal of former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury who died aged 45 in 1991. In the film, Allen plays Freddie’s former manager and lover Paul Prenter who is portrayed as a villain loathed by Freddie’s fans.

During filming, Queen guitarist Brian May, 71, told Allen: “It is hard being around you because you look so like him.”

Allen adds: “They don’t have the greatest memories of the guy.”

Bohemian Rhapsody is nominated for Best Picture, Rami is up for Best Actor and they also get nods for Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing and Best Sound Editing. Queen – Roger Taylor, May, and vocalist Adam Lambert – are currently in rehearsals for their performance on the big night at LA’s Dolby Theatre.

Celebs including fellow nominees Lady Gaga – who last week enjoyed a pre-party detox in Mexico after splitting from her boyfriend – Bradley Cooper, Olivia Colman and Richard E Grant will all be at the bash.

I’ve got an Academy Awards special preview going in tomorrow’s Sunday Mirror and, of course, I’ll be bringing you all the goss from the red carpet.

If the party is as boozy as Allen predicts, I’ll be taking advances on all hangover cures...
