NO REST FOR HUNGRY WOLVES
Huddersfield v Wolves kick-off 8pm BY TIM NASH
NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO says Wolves will not be hitting the beaches early despite topping the magical 40 points.
Should Wolves avoid defeat at Huddersfield tonight they will set a clubrecord points total in the Premier League – with 10 games left. Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth saw them match their tally from 2010-11, when they finished 17th and escaped the drop by a point on the last day.
“We never think about the points,” said Nuno. This is what I tell the players, we have a very good chance to become a better, more competitive and betterorganised team.”
Teams can dip once they reach the milestone considered ‘safe’ from relegation. But the Wolves boss (right) is having none of it. “There is always pressure,” he said. “That’s the only way to work. Pressure makes you alert.”
Nuno believes his players are ‘maxing out’. “Every time a Wolves player puts on his shirt, he has an obligation,” he said.
“It pleases me more when my team go out realising there is nothing more to give. They have given everything.”
Jan Siewert read the riot act to his Huddersfield players and demanded his struggling outfit respond after Saturday’s dismal 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.
He said: “The least everyone at this club deserves is that the players give 100 per cent.
“The least we can do is run like hell and do everything. I’m sure there will be a reaction against Wolves.”
