FURY T0 WILDER: NO REMATCH UNTIL YOU’RE MORE FAMOUS

- BY CHRIS McKENNA

JOS BUTTLER continued to redefine what is possible in this era of big-hitting cricket with a ferocious onslaught in a thrilling 29-run win.

Buttler blasted a careerhigh 150 from just 77 balls.

And Eoin Morgan made 103 as England registered their highest-ever ODI total on foreign soil with 418-6 – their fourth score over 400 since the last World Cup.

With Adil Rashid claiming 5-85 and Mark Wood 4-60, the Windies fell to 389 all out to give England a 2-1 lead in the series with one to play.

Buttler certainly caught the eye.

But on a memorable day at the National Cricket Stadium, Chris Gayle responded in kind with his own 162-run demolition job that said anything the Universe Jos can do, the Universe Boss can do better.

It took Buttler 60 balls to reach his seventh ODI ton.

Gayle needed just 55 balls to get to the 25th and fastest hundred of his astonishing career. In the process, the TYSON FURY has told Deontay Wilder he has to become a bigger name in America before their rematch can happen.

That is despite the fact the former world heavyweight champion was on the verge of agreeing a rematch only last month.

Fury, 30, opted to sign a contract with US promoters Top Rank, which could be worth £80million, but insisted he still wanted the rematch with the WBC title holder next.

The British fighter informed Wilder, who works with Top Rank’s rival Al Haymon, not to let boxing politics block a rerun of their dramatic draw from December.

But this week Fury (left) instructed the WBC that he wants a warm-up fight in May or June and will not be entering into purse bids for the mandated clash.

It kills the slim hopes the pair could meet each other again next and has cast huge doubt over the rematch happening at all in 2019.

Wilder then hit out at Fury on social media, which prompted the Manchester fighter to respond.

Fury said: “Get yourself a bit more well known in America first, kid, and then I’ll give you another chance. I already beat you, the world knows it, and so do you. It must be hard for you that a British fighter has taken over the USA.”

Fury’s new US promoters Top Rank are now looking to secure an opponent for a US fight date in May or June, possibly in New York. Dillian Whyte was mooted as an opponent, but an American is more likely.
