ALL SQUARE AFTER ANT & DEC SHOW
BRISTOL CITY boss Lee Johnson has tipped striker Antoine Semenyo to hit the big time, even though he was denied a late winner by Declan Rudd.
The 19-year-old (above) has attracted the interest of both Manchester United and Chelsea, with talk of £2million bids.
Little wonder that Ashton Gate boss Johnson recalled Semenyo from his 21-game loan spell at Newport County.
And after bringing him on for most of the second half, Johnson drooled: “He’s a superb talent.
“It feels like having a new signing. And he so nearly grabbed the winner.”
City’s second-half leveller came courtesy of established striker Famara Diedhiou, whose 11th goal of the season rubbed out Daniel Johnson’s strike for Preston.
By the time Diedhiou scored, Semenyo was on the pitch and making a difference, and the London-born striker revealed: “We could see that Fam was alone up front so I came on and helped him. I hope the two of us can become a force. We play well together.
“I couldn’t believe their keeper’s save from my shot late on. I caught the ball really well and thought ‘it’s in’ – but then watched Declan Rudd make that super save.”
Preston might be six points adrift of City but one-time Everton Academy product Ryan Ledson said defiantly: “I’d rather be in our position than theirs, with all those games still to go.
“All the pressure is on them. At the end of the season I think we will be right in the mix.”
