Love Island star’s shotguns stolen while he sleeps

Thieves crept past Chris’ eight dogs

- BY OILVER PRITCHARD

THIEVES crept into Love Island star Chris Hughes’ farmhouse as he slept and stole two shotguns.

None of the reality TV contestant’s eight dogs woke up during the raid on his family’s Cotswolds home.

A “large amount” of cash was also taken with Chris and his brother Edward’s firearms.

A source said: “It’s frightening to think they were able to get in and out from right under their noses and no one noticed.

“Chris is really worried about what those guns could be used for.”

Chris, 26, lives with Edward, 27, and parents Stephen and Valerie at the property, which is opposite a church on a quiet road in Temple Guiting, Glos.

The shotguns were legally held and securely stored – normally in a lockable cabinet or a gun room.

His dogs were in kennels in a building detached from the farmhouse when the break-in took place last month.

Speaking at Crufts yesterday, Chris said the raid has badly affected his black sprocker spaniel, Buster. “He was nervous, and shaking,” said the star. Chris also revealed he is the “happiest he’s ever been” with new girlfriend Jesy Nelson of girl group Little Mix.

He said: “It’s official, she’s my girlfriend. I’m so happy. She’s the nicest girl I’ve ever met, this is no exaggeration – she’s got a heart like your mother or something. “She’s so caring. We just get on like best mates, and that’s the beauty about it.” Jesy, 27, went public with their relationship last week and Chris cannot wait to introduce her to Buster.

He said: “No, she hasn’t met Buster but she will soon I’m sure.” Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed officers attended Chris’ home on February 8 following reports of a burglary.

A spokeswoman said: “It’s believed offenders entered the property before stealing two shotguns from inside.” RELATIONSHIP Chris and Jesy
