HUGO: SPURS HAVE RUN OUT OF JOKERS

Lloris warns the clowning around must stop as Pochettino condemns side’s arrogance, complacency and immaturity

HUGO LLORIS admits he is worried about Tottenham’s domestic form – and says it must change fast – after the Champions League quarterfinalists surrendered to Saints.

And with no “joker” left to play in the race for the top four, the Spurs skipper challenged his two-faced team to win every remaining Premier League match this season, starting at Anfield.

Mauricio Pochettino accused his big-time Charlies of arrogance, complacency and a lack of maturity at St Mary’s after a fourth top-flight game without a win.

And the next time they play, against Liverpool on March 31, they could be out of the top four.

New stadium to come, same old Spurs. Only they could finish sixth in a three-way title race.

After disposing of Borussia Dortmund in clinical style, winning the Champions League could yet be their best route back into Europe’s premier club competition.

But Spurs really need to sort out the home front otherwise it may be Europa League football in shiny White Hart Lane next season.

World Cup-winner Lloris said: “It’s too early to talk about not being in the Champions League.

“I don’t want to talk about supposition, we will see what happens and we will see what we will deserve.

“We are still in the race and that is the most important thing, but for sure we need to change something, especially away from home.

“We know it’s going to be very tight until the end and it’s two places for four teams for the top four.

“Am I worried by league form?

“Yes, especially against a team that you expect to get points from. It’s been four games now without a win. It’s tough to lose games and it makes things very complicated for us.

“We had a good gap in the months before, now it has reduced and we don’t have a joker any more.

“We need to win every game until the end.”

Spurs should have won at a canter after the returning Dele Alli set up Harry Kane for his 200th goal – and his 11th in 12 games.

But Pochettino’s men, especially Kane, frittered away chances before squandering the lead and their discipline. Danny Rose inexplicably allowed a cross from Southampton sub Stuart Armstrong to reach Yan Valery at the far post for the equaliser.

And after Kyle Walker-Peters was booked for taking out Armstrong, James Ward-Prowse nailed another superb free-kick. Mo Sissoko should have been sent off late on.

Pochettino, who watched from the stands because of an FA ban, reckons Spurs played like one of the top eight teams in Europe in the first 45 minutes... and might have added they resembled the Dog and Duck after the break.

“The reality is two faces, different faces,” he said. “We are in the Champions League but of course the Champions League can disappear quickly.”

Lloris added: “We needed more aggression and intensity at the beginning of the second half to score the second goal.

“We have the ability and quality to kill the game and make it a bit easier for us.

“In the Premier League, if you let your opponent in the game you never know what to expect.

“At the moment we do not have the capacity to manage the games.”
